I am about to make an Exile, but since it is very expensive, I wanted to get a second opinion so that I wont waste the runes.
I was specifically thinking about the blue resistance bonus, if they count as a "magic" item.

Always best when made in an eth shield with +base resists because the runeword auto repairs.

Exile is relatively cheap at this point.

+Resist is not solely a magic modifier, but it can be if identified on a blue item. You need a white or already 4 socketed base with +res.

The thing that makes it vital to be ETH is the trading aspect. You'll have to flog it at half price if you make it into a non eth.

As far as if it's needed, no it isn't. More defense does generally go unnoticed in gameplay but it sure as hell makes you ALOT stronger vs anything using an attack rating. It will basically stop you dying to a tp in the middle of elite venom lords without you even knowing it helped.

Edit: Don't do it unless the shield is 40+ resists either. Assuming you want your d2 empire to grow and not shrink in value over time.

it's vital. you can buy a shitty non eth exile for significantly less than the rune cost of making one

how is it vital? idiots making bad decisions still do just fine in d2, they love the game too

it's vital in the sense that it's pointless to make one in a non eth base. if you're on a budget, just buy a cheap one from someone dumb enough to make a non eth exile

this is 5head when you don't have much and dont do thousands of meph runs aiming for the best, use some drac gloves in the meantime ofc, coz its gonna take a while to that ridiculous deal

You do not need an eth shield same damage same res and stats only defense goes up with eth and the runes might be relatively cheap eth shield is for min maxers in d2 that are either pvp or trying to sell at high prices
