Botd is very meh for pvm in comparison to grief



Botd is only used in PVP because grief is considered BM for GM melee duels.


But if grief was GM, grief would beat the shit out of botd.

Use either 2 x Geief PB or if you want make BoTD make it to Eth War Pike or Eth Thunder Maul base.

Never use botd for pvm. It’s always much worse than grief for anyone that can use grief (exception is act 2 mercs)

BoTD Eth War Pike / Thunder Maul is great weapon choice for Titan Barb and not even ”much worse” than dual Grief’s. Do maths, it’s ez as you say.

BOTD Eth Warpike is very bad for pvm in D2R specially. WP doesn't hit the last WW BP so after the first two free hits you get a 6fpa hit check: 4, 8, 14, 20, 26, 32 etc. Short WWs are bugged in D2R right now, you're forced to do long wws in pvm and even pvp. For two handers, do the same with eth GPA which reaches 4fpa after the initial 2 hits: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24. If you just want a really hard hitting 2H WW barb then an eth glorious axe would give you the most bang for the buck. It gets to the last ias BP, doesn't have unreasonable dex requirement so you can go all titan if you want.

Overall, 2x grief pb is superior in PVM unless you want to mf/goldfind in P1- P4. There, botd frees your ring slots and possibly a belt slot for life and mana leech. You can wear 2x dwarfstar or 2x nagelrings to hork on switch.

Well dunno about D2R but what i have played WW Barb and used BoTD TM it was as fast as Griefs in zones what i played ( chaos and throne mostly ) , only thing was i had better leech with BoTD TM

e: And im not claiming that BoTD is better than Griefs, i just say that BoTD TM is close to equal to Griefs. And for Titan Barb BoTD is bis weapon at least in HC imo. Griefs hits hard, but claiming that all BoTD’s are trash is not true at all. 1h BoTD is bad weapon choice, 2H BoTD is not.

Of course botd isn't trash, it's just grief is really overpowered. Exactly in HC, I wouldn't play a barb without a shield, to be specific a stormshield. Grief is the first choice there along with strings of ear. WW + some more points than just 1 in berserk is the way to go. As for botd war pike, eth glorious axe offers more damage overall. It's just, no one bothers to make one inside of a glorius axe. The way WW works there isn't much of a difference between rangeadder 3 or 4.


I mixed up weapons, glorious axe can't reach last WW BP with 60 ias on botd.

Well personally i prefer Thunder Maul, havent test Glorious Axe tho.

Lower average dmg, doesn't get 1.1% ed from stating str, has range 4 (see the picture) and a very high min damage so when you manage to hit something it hurts. I prefer high min damage on slow weapons. Berserk and concentrate also easier to accelerate on a grlorious axe but again to make use of higher range longer WWs are best. Eth GPA ticks all boxes there, reasonable avdmg + requirement while maintaining 4fpa throughout the ww.
