so i guess a lot of people know at this point that most quest items can be upgraded with cube leading to some unexpected results, huh?
the staff of kings, the horadric staff or the hellforge hammer are some examples, (i believe either khalim flail or khalim will can be upgraded too), becoming hand axes, which then can be upgraded two more times to the exceptional and elite versions (last one ladder only due to recipe restriction)
the first weird effect of this is the change of base item - a staff or mace type becoming an axe type
the second effect is that they keep the mods on them
here is the proof if anyone wants to check:

ok, thats nice!
but then... i came across some more obscure pics:

sources:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=20430643https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=20554303and even viper amu related, pic is lost tho

:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=22988056first thing i thought about it: photoshop/hero editor
then i saw a lot of vouches, so second thing i thought: imported item (who the hell would import an item with such crap mods tho)
BUT!
there seems to be an explanation about the first one:
it is a failed rare 3xdura staff of kings that very rarely drops from the superchest on maggot lair, and it should also be possible to get a failed 2xdura magic item if it replaced a set item on the drop roll
about the "empyrian gnarl", honestly no idea how could it be generated
anyways, did u guys know anything about this? was it fixed on recent versions? did u ever come across one of these? any ideas about the rare horadric staff?
liskod, thanks2
