As i wrote in the text i used rares. I have 2 stacks of ectos and got bored of salvaging all the rares i get from the world bosses so i decided to save them until i had a bunch of like 10-20-30 rares and then i throw them all in the mystic forge. Usually on the mystic forge daily days.
I dont know how many rares i used before i got dawn, but i have been doing this for quiet some time and have been getting quiet a few exotics before dawn. If i had to guess i would say i roughly spent maybe 50 gold worth of rares so it turned out to be a very good deal for me.
Funny thing is that dawn is the only precursor i cant really use since i already crafted sunrise a long time ago. So i already sold it for 490g. Can also mention that i dont really want anything speciel in the game atm so my gold is just hoarding up and i only use my gold to get more gold
EDIT : Since exotic weapons are worth the most i always try to throw in 4 rare weapons and dont mix it with rare armors. When i have a lot of armors i put in 3 armor rares and 1 weapon rare for a 50/50 chance between a weapon and an armor outcome.
