hi,

i'm an older gamer, so i dont play 4-5 hours a day, mostly like 1-2 hours a day max, with some gaps of 1-2 days, depending on work / free time.
it can be free to play (but no chance of ingame purchases that impact playstyle) or a game to buy on internet or at the store ..

i am looking for a new game to enjoy myself on PC, i have a "decent" pc with 6gb video card so i can play most games i think on decent settings.

what are fun games to play, online (and active) or offline (prefer games that keep me busy for XXX hours but dont need me to play for 2-3 hours in a row)

games i enjoyed:

- GTA5 (PS3)
- GT6 (PS3)
- Diablo 2LOD - 3 (before expansion)
- Guild wars 1
- Age of empires (all editions)
- C&C + C&C red alert (a few editions of those)
- the sims 1 (getting old ...)

i played shooters to, but these days the single player is mostly garbage and the mutli is full of people that are WAY more exp then me and play alot more, so i dont think it will be fun ?
i checked overwatch, seems very fun, but i'm afraid that if i play this game for like 1-2 hours from time to time, i will just be a free-kill..

U see, many genres of games cross my mind, are enjoyable for me. If u tell me an MMORPG, give me some info about the ingame playstyle, is it fun if u only play a few hours, or will it be annoying if u dont have 15-20 hours a week to improve.

thanks for info,

So basicly, what game are u BIG fan of and u think that wil enjoy me + comment

Regards,

Tim

Eh there aren't any good red alert-like games anymore. I suppose league of legends is the closest thing to that.
You have a rather broad list of games, so I suppose you could really enjoy anything you put your mind to :p

My gamelist looks a bit like this, in chronological order (oldest first)

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (first person shooter)
Tibia (Still present, just as trader)
Red Alert II
Diablo II
GunZ:The Duel (Game deceased T.T)
Revelation: World of Kaldana (text-based game; game deceased T.T)
Neverwinter (Module 0, 1, 2, 3. Before there even was an XBox version.)
Alliance of the Valiant Arms "AVA" (FPS)
Miden Quest Online (text-based game)

Based on your list, I think you could like neverwinter. But, much like any RPG, you won't get very far without hours spent :p

indeed, searched for Red alert based games, but besided SC2 there isnt much going on in that category
i share your opinion about RPG's, that's what i liked about GW ofc in its first years, since its a non-items-based RPG,

more thoughts? opinions? all welcome

war thunder, surely one of the best things I've played in all categories. I like racing/speed and shooting stuff so it's perfect for me.

But not sure if in game purchases impact playstyle..? High tier vehicles takes much playing to reach, which is why people claim it's "pay to win" but I don't agree, I think the low tier vehicles are about just as fun, with simply a different playstyle and feel to them. I just play cause I enjoy it, I know I won't ever play enough to unlock everything in war thunder, there simply is too much, but I really don't mind.

Anyway, matchmaking is decided the "battle rating" of your planes or vehicles. If one gets steady and even setup with lets say a max rating of 2.3, (u can have several aircrafts or tanks with u into a match) the people in the fight will be a mix of somewhat experienced players to completely new people who also just reached that battle rating on their vehicles, but no one no matter how experienced will have planes with higher battle/performance rating than 3.3.

I'm new to tanks and prefer not to be uptiered so I move up slowly, finished a setup at 1.3 (about the lowest battle rating possible with a few tanks and airplanes ranging from 1.0-1.3, where there are tanks up to a max rating of 10.0) and I've had a blast the past couple of days with that. This way because I don't know tanks well - where to shoot, not knowing the maps or tactics in general etc - I cannot face any particularly good tanks in a match, & so I always have a good chance even against experienced players to defeat them.

I would suggest:

Rocketleague (not f2p, but kinda cheap I think) And great fun - this is a winner for sure as well
War Thunder - ok these last week i've bee flying a whole lot on there, but I've had it for a couple of years and usually I just play a match or a few...10-20minutes- an hour maybe. And a small hope you'd wanna go from my invite if u wanna try it out.
Dark Souls3 - something my pc cannot handle, but tried it and it's a top quality game. Just really well made.
God of War - this I haven't tried but heard it's superb. If I had a good computer I would try this.

hey I made this thread before, maybe you'll get some good suggestions from there

if u like racing I'd try the newer Dirt
Need for speed hot pursuit and Most Wanted
Burnout3 takedown(if it exists on pc) one of the best arcade racers i've tried. Very enjoyable.
Flat out

I haven't tried them but The Grid 1-2 and The Crew 1-2+ Forza Horizon 3-4 looks like fantastic racers, with free roam.

Total War Series

Civilization # ?

Klei Games (Don't Starve / Oxygen Not Included)

Open TTD (Transport Tycoon Deluxe)

Orcs Must Die 1/2 (Trap oriented "tower" defense) Not OMDU though if you are to avoid micro-transactions.

I take it you've probably played Tiberian Sun / Dune 2000

Not a whole lot on the horizon, anyone else noticed any fantastic releases coming about soon?

I saw mount & blade Bannerlord was still in the works, but one peek at the UI tells me not too much has progressed from warband
