Dad aged gamer here, @op the only question you really need to ask if in regards to if you'll like BG3, is if you mind a fairly slow game with a lot of reading, that is very open ended. Baldur's Gate games are essentially 'chose your own adventure' book with a turn based combat element worked in. If that sounds fun to you then you'll like BG3.
People will split hairs on how the combat is, or how it is compared to others in the genre, but in a nutshell if you like the sounds of the previous description, this game is of quality, and is one of the best examples of it's genre. Similar to how Zelda is great for people who like open ended adventure games, and the Resident Evil remakes recently are great survival horror games. Ignore all the other bullshit people might tell you, if a game looks fun just fucking play it.
