I'm wondering if I should put cast spd over +%dmg in every case or if there's a balance.
Simple

Also, my char has ~3000 combined focus so probably at this point I should at least put some cast speed if I want better DPS.
Take this into consideration though, removing 100% damage (roughly 200focus) would reduce my attacks from 80000 to 75000 if my base damage is 5000. Now replace that 100% with 30% cast and see the difference :
2cast/sec base times 1.30 = 2.6/sec.
Dps with 100% : 80000 x 2 = 160000dps
DPS with 30% cast instead : 75000 x 2.6 = 195000dps
There's also crit dmg to consider.. While the cast speed does improve overall dps, it makes criticals weaker.
with 100% crit dmg total and 80k = 160k crits
with 75k = 150k crits
The difference between them becomes larger when more crit damage is added. Obviously crit chance has the same effect.
Any help would be appreciated.
actually, I need someone better with maths than me to answer this because the overall equation would be based on : At which point does the factor of improvement of cast speed exceed the one for +%dmg. See it this way, 100% dps out of 1500% only represents a 15% improvement per 100% slice VERSUS a 1500% (160k) dps that has 10% cast speed (2/sec = 200% so if you add 10% per 100% slice = 220% = 2.20/sec factor) represents a 20% improvement??
Putting all of this inperspective, I think I would need a ridiculous unattainable amount of cast spd to make it not worth putting more. Now the question is : what amount of cast speed would be considered better than say 100% damage. Obviously 1% cast speed is not better then 100% damage but when does the scale tip. That should be a tad easier to calculate.
