I'm a big fan of the hardcore/players8 runs of good ol' Diablo 2, and I wanted to try the same thing out with the beauty the is Torchlight 2.
I get to the Wellspring Temple (because I'm that good) without any trouble, then get one-shotted by a random champion monster that shot a homing fire missile at me as soon as he appeared.
For clarification, I was on an Outlander at the time, with a fair amount of vitality and armor.
Is there a way to play hardcore and succeed by being able to actually survive hits like that, or is it mostly a game of "I hope that my superhuman reflexes don't fail me and chance is on my side?"

Essentially speaking...


There isn't too much point to playing this game on hardcore for a few reasons.




Firstly... vitality gives you poop. You're better off getting it on end game gear.
Which you will never get if you're playing hardcore because you have to outlevel the content at least 6~ levels to safely and securely beat (at least on elite), and you will probably die anyway randomly.

Which brings you to the other point... a trap will be the fall of you.
Traps deal a crap ton of damage and pretty much one shots you in certain situations. And most traps go through shields...

Also... the aoe poop from elite monsters will inflict burn/poison/whatever the heck.... and you will die before you even realize you were inflicted with it... and once again it goes through shields.


The best chance you have is probably to roll with or use an engineer... other than that... Have fun buddy.

currrently a2 with embermage on elite hc, prob gonna RIP here for the millionth time though. will make it eventually. engineer = godmode :/
