What's the most basic setup for a focus based engineer?
I have read EVERYWHERE, and I get such conflicting builds (mostly because they're written by beginning players).
I have been maxing heal bot and Force field but I haven't put any points into anything else (cause I figure they would be great for survivability and gives me something to do in my group I play with).
I know there are two main types of builds (DPS str build, and Focus elemental build).
Fire and Spark + Emberquake + Dynamo Field = a really solid Focus based build right?
Charge Domination + Charge Reconstitution = Passives which boost dps.
Bulwark + Healing bot + Force Field = Survivability.
Should be around 120 points for the core build, giving 13~ points for free choice.
Going the Fire and Spark route gives me more dps on your elemental skills, Dynamo field gives you massive Focus, and then you drop either Emberquake for massive elemental damage, or Force Field for survivability.
And I plan on going shield and 1h, since DPS on weapon isn't as important when going focus.
I already have one point into utility Ember Hammer (for shield breaks), and Onslaught (for the initiate and disengage).
Am I doing this right? Please let me know... Thanks.
Charge reconsitution doesnt boost dps at all, it simply gives you HP when you use charge up.
Charge domination refills your charge when you use it up. (which means you'll need to spam forcefield alot for Charge reconstitution/Domination to work with your build, ALOT, otherwise Charge reconsisution is completely useless in ur build since its heal is meant to be used alot, with skills like flame hammer which only uses up a single charge at a time, therefor proccing the 2 second heal. Using all 5 charges at once and depleting ur bar doesnt give u 10 seconds worth of heal, just 2 and u wasted ur whole bar, and hoping the domination proc's a full charge bar, but even if it does right away, theres an 8 second cooldown on forcefield, which means no charges being used during that cooldown? seems like a waste to me)
Sadly the engineer got the shit end of the stick when Runic was making charge bars. If your build doesnt perfectly harness charge, ur charge bar is kinda useless, and honestly, very few of the engineers skills use up charge. All other classes, doesnt matter what u spec, the charge bar is beneficial. Thats the one thing i dont like about engineers.
