If im cornered and trapped, is it safe to quit game? or will my character remain in game for xx seconds and end up dead?

Last night i was lagging and i left a game, but my friend said i was still in game and about to die(as he and the other 2 people in the game died)
So he watched me die, as i was already connecting to another game....and my character is not dead.

sooo if anyone knows about this, let me know please

its for these types of gay reasons i generally don't play hardcore lol

No, it shouldn't. The server will not affect the character if you don't rejoin I believe.
