played the crap out of d2. a lil bit of xpac but mostly classic (still play classic from time to time)
played a good amount of d3. beat it on inferno before they nerfed it (1.04 patch)
don't play d3 much anymore. i sign on and see friends lvl 40+ paragon and im lvl 3 paragon and think jesus... lost a lot of its appeal to me. maybe ill go back and enjoy it again but for now i have very little interest to play. i feel bad cuz my girlfriend bought me 2 copies of collector's edition AFTER they were sold out on stores and were overpriced on a very popular auction site that u can't type out apparently. now i get very little use out of it and feel like an a hole. anyway...
torchlight...
TL1 was awesome. played it quite a bit on xbox 360, was thoroughly impressed and happy with the purchase.
TL2...so far having the same feelings. the dungeons are great and actually fun to explore (im sure part of its awesomeness is that its all new for me). the grind isn't too bad considering how fun it is to watch the mobs explode and see ur cool effects and skills make them turn into gibs. that was one of the things d3 did great and torchlight 2 didn't really fall too behind on that aspect either. i can't say much about replay value considering i just cleared first map on act 2 (lvl 24 embermage), but so far its fantastic. i havent even bothered to try and play online yet. single player is very fun. every time i have sat and played this so far time has flown by while i try to full clear every area. u get a pet to follow u which is nice cuz its essentially a mule that can help attack and send to town to sell ur stuff while u continue to pillage. this game has skill points/stat points, synnergies (kinda), and a relatively decent build diversity with the skill trees and the ability to use any item type on any class (assuming its not a class specific item type) so long as u have the required stats or level to wear/use. i was a little disapointed when i read they have very little to no intention on porting this to xbox 360 like they did with the first one, but its still just as good if not better to play for PC. im just hoping that modding doesn't become a determining factor with items and stats n what not otherwise to me it will turn into a single player game only real fast. i've never seen the need or reason to hack on a game if u enjoy its content and difficulty. speaking of difficulty as a d2 player, i would suggest playing on veteran or elite difficulty. normal so far as been a cake walk and i have only come close to dying twice so far (still havent died).
oh and i forgot to mention its only 20 bucks. if someone complains they didnt get their money's worth with that price tag, they likely have a pretty terrible life.
sorry for the essay i just wanted to say what i like about it so far...which as of right now is just about everything.
thanks for the input man.. i think it looks like a perfect game, they just need to have a private server. how are patches done? will there be expansions?
