they really knew what they were doing, all those old d2 devs really understood what made d2 so special.
online cheating, open servers, fear of playing in public games, no trading(becouse everyone can cheat)

yeah, true d2 successor. for real?

an arpg game like that without trading, cmon guys.
at least d3 got that right, and its still improving. :>

What a lot (most) people fail to realize is that D3 at launch is pretty much the same as D2 at launch. People compare opening day D3 to D2 12 years after release.

D2 Classic did not have runes at launch, did not have nearly the itemization it has now at launch, and was a much simpler game. The only thing that D2 had at launch that D3 doesn't (my main gripe) is PvP enabled.

While I'm not a fan of taking a step backwards, I have high hopes that D3 will improve much like D2 did and become a great game. Until then TL2 is awesome fun :D

Right, because there was no end-game. The only real endgame for an ARPG is PvP. There is ZERO point for grinding gear and doing endless MF runs if there is no means to an end. You get amazing gear to what...farm more gear?

My hope is that improves vastly when PvP is put in place, we'll see.

I agree to an extent. We (people that ACTUALLY played D2) farmed for gear in D2. Took a long time, but in the end, our purpose was to pvp. D3 is complete shit because it is the ONLY Diablo made by Blizzard themselves

there is no legitimate reasons for d3 at launch to be in the same state as d2 at launch, unless they somehow had to relearn everything about making videogames in between, or if they hired a junior programmers team with an experienced senior project manager to manage them. But that 2nd option isnt'e legitimate, it's being cheap and not caring about release quality

I dunno this little article right here says just the opposite.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/no-plans-for-torchlight-mmo-6396935

Laura Parker, Associate Editor

no reason to read that after i saw that

like i said, a person from torchlight 2 staff said that
all thought it might not be called Torchlight online or whatever
but thats exactly what these 2 games are being made for, so they can make a mmorpg

also
Ronnon they made d2 as well

man you are such a waste of time.......defending a game then admitting your taking " steps backwards " with D3, is dumb. D3 is a bad game the dev's failed and spent 100 times more $ on advertisement than development. D2 was great at launch, no weekly maintnance , there servers were stable after day 2 unlike D3. D3 was down 75% of the time on week 1. with almost NO updates on bug fixes etc leaving the consumers in the clouds the entire time...stop comparing that fail ass game to D2 or ill have my 5 year old stomp your face in the ground.
