I agree with you on this SOMEWHAT only reason being is a lot of player's don't like how most of the graphics are a little choppy so there WILL be texture mods and the art style's are completely different so once again it falls back on preference of your playing style.

i like d3 graphics better but the gameplay in torchlight is like d2

Actually they are the exact same genre. They both are ARPG's that have different classes to choose from and are dungeon crawling loot driven games. Not trying to be an ass about it but people compare D3 to wow (they ARE different ARPG vs MMO). So comparing D3 to TL2 makes a lot of sense.

I have yet to spend over 200 hours playing this game so I don't feel like it if fair for me to make a comparison. I do like it more so far though.
