after previously raiding the likes of dortmund and leverkusen, buyern went after leipzig this transfer period, signing three (!) crucial pieces of their relative success last season (somewhat challenging for the title, making it out of their difficult CL group): upamecano, nagelsmann, and sabitzer joined munich over the summer - basically gutting leipzig's squad and making sure they won't come too close this time around.
https://www.transfermarkt.com/bayern-munich-sign-sabitzer-three-arrivals-from-rb-leipzig-for-around-euro-70m-this-summer/view/news/391984now don't get me wrong, i don't like plastic clubs like leipzig, and i couldn't care less what happens to them, but buyern repeatedly and selectively targeting their closest domestic competition, in order to maintain their boring dominance over the bundesliga, is a despicable approach imo.
just to inb4 the apologists: i'm not saying this is or should be illegal, i'm not saying it isn't "smart" - but this is also not just your typical transfer policy, simply looking to strengthen your own squad. this is clearly a pattern of weakening your direct opponents, that i don't see employed so obviously by any other club in any other top league - and it's hurting the bundesliga as a whole: not just the lack of excitement when it comes to the title race, but also that basically every single german club has to rebuild after a somewhat successful season (although buyern is obviously not exclusively responsible for this ofc), something you don't see in spain, england, or italy for example.
what do you guys think about this? shrewd policy, shitty tactics, both?
