Talk of FFP being dead is premature and reactionary. Good article by the BBC on it here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/53390886

Key points are:
> City were not exonerated, but many of the offences were committed over 5 yrs ago
> FFP can still be legally upheld if UEFA act quicker against offending clubs in future
> Financial sustainability of FFP is still clear to see

Don't think FFP is dead, but uefa have certainly lost credibility. Hopefully it opens up the discussion into why there's a time restriction on offenses when investigations take such a fucking long time.

End result is man city have profited from these offences to the tune of hundreds of millions of pounds and a 10mill fine does nothing to change this. It's a shambles and it's either time to scrap this bullshit completely, or shape it into something that actually works.

meh, it'll keep 'working' (somewhat) on 2nd and 3rd tier clubs, but when it comes to the richest of the rich, there will always be some 'slap on the wrist' kind of deal (maybe a transfer ban that can be avoided by some kind of clever legal construction or bookkeeping trick), or a small fee that none of the fat cats even remotely care about.

ffp is nice as an idea, but mostly toothless in its implementation.

You're both missing the point that the FFP system works. UEFA were too slow in penalising them which meant the statutes had passed.

If a club gets away with breaking FFP rules, then the system doesn't work.

statute of limitations this time, wrong charge so nulla poena sine legere next time, incorrectly acquired evidence the time after that... plenty of legal tricks available before this one has to be used again.
funny how that didn't happen when punishing smaller, poorer, and less well connected clubs.
