Well, we'll see if it's anything mroe than rumours.
The UCWC was a really fun torunament, but it has no place in today's football due to the current CL and EL formats, so I doubt it has anything to do with that.
I guess it could be a tournament for the teams that get knocked out in the EL/CL qualifiers. I mean, most of the 54 European leagues see their champions finish their continental run in August... it would be nice to see these kind of teams compete for longer. Or it could be one were only smaller leagues enter, like the way the AFC has a cup for developing leagues, or the CONCACAF has regional Caribbean and Central American tournaments that act as a second tier to the CONCACAF CL.

Only thing I wonder is when do they play?
Perhaps they've finally seen the light, and they'll have CL and EL games on separate weeks, with this new competition being played on Thursdays.

We'll Europa is shit because of the shit teams. But imagine it being Sevilla/Valencia vs Inter/AC Milan or something of tha calibre every week. It would make it significantly more interesting to watch.
20 years ago the EL was massive and a joy to watch, since only league champions qualified for the CL (as well as the title holders, ofc). There were so many good EL and UCWC games, with the level of the teams in the later stages often being comparable to those of the CL.
It's why I wish there were less teams from the big leagues in the CL, and they rebalanced the competitions a bit.
