http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11023034/psg-and-man-city-accused-of-financial-doping-by-la-liga-president-javier-tebas

Speaking at the SoccerEx Convention in Manchester, Tebas said: "This is when football clubs have a competitive advantage due to income not coming from the clubs themselves.
"Recently, Manchester City and Paris Saint-German, before that Chelsea, they have money that has not been created [by them] and have been able to get an advantage through this.

"Manchester City with all this oil [money] will take all these players and we need to protect ourselves.

"These past few years Manchester City have paid out nearly a thousand million on players, PSG £950m"

This one takes the cake

"We know these clubs fight to become the best brand in world. We carried out this study of the accounts - income streams, sponsorship et cetera. PSG has a lot more from sponsorship than Manchester United. That's impossible. That's financial doping.

Only thing untruthful from this prez right here is that he shoulda said no 1 else has more sponsorship deals than United.

Just wanna add, Deal with it prez. These wealthy owners can come up with whatever sponsorship deals they desire and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
The only way out of this is to get rid of release clauses in spain. Or put a 2 Billion release clause on every single player. even those at your academy. problem solved.

Always funny seeing loliga mongrels complain. How many years did they let barca and real abuse tv incomes? Imagine if we had the majority of the tv money from the prem going to only 2 teams. They wouldn't need sponsors, they'd be fucking loaded beyond belief.

Really? I can understand the fans of the oil clubs defending this, but it's sad to see other people backing up this bullshit.

I have no problem with a club spending 500M€ with the money they make thanks to their sports success (and the commercial success derived from it, including the sexy TV deal the prem has ofc) like many top clubs do, but having a guy inject millions like crazy is just financial doping.

It doesn't matter what Spain does or did in the past; when something is wrong, it should be pointed out. When La Liga was told off for allowing fan-owned clubs pay lower taxes than the rest of the clubs, the rule was changed and Madrid, Barça, Athletic and Osasuna no longer have that advantage (which was never that big anyway... but I agree it was unfair, and had to be changed). I supported the change because it was indeed a way of financial doping... and in the same fashion, I support actions against this oil money madness that is much more severe case of financial doping. UEFA's FFP was supposed to fix this, but so far it's doing jack shit... it's time to enforce this. And tbh, despite Tebas having flaws, I don't think it's right to accuse him of being a hypocrite here. He is the one that imposed a salary and spending cap to clubs in debt, pushed the new and much more fair (albeit still not perfect) TV deal, and other measures to make the competition here much fairer and cleaner.

And no, this has nothing to do with me being spanish; I always stand for what I believe should be the spirit of the sport. I've always criticized unfair advantages like Madrid and Barça hogging up the TV money with the old deal. And I've always said UEFA should work towards making a more balanced CL and help develop the smaller leagues (give almost equal prize money to everyone so that CL/EL clubs are just fighting for the trophy, reduce the number of CL teams in all the top leagues by 1 so that other leagues get more opportunity to make money and develop, work around Bosman ruling and force clubs to field national and homegrown players, etc). I'd much rather see the CL go back to times where a top league like La Liga could spend 26 years without winning the trophy and clubs from many different leagues winning it or reaching the final during that time, than continental a competition completely dominated by 1 or 2 leagues.

I don't really follow European football, but shouldn't a team in Paris, France make a ton of money off endorsements/sponsorship due to all the big companies there?

The problem is that it's hard to do the "right thing", when it puts you in a disadvantage. It would be nice if the Bundesliga and other leagues had presidents that also wanted to follow the path of caps and greater equality, but this weakens them in comparison to the other leagues that allow everything. This is why it should be UEFA and FIFA enforcing these rules, so it's the same for every league and nobody is at a disadvantage.

They are mostly sponsored by Qatari companies.... with a highly inflated amount of money that quite obviously goes against the spirit of FFP.

Not sure why, but there doesn't seem to be much of a tradition in France when it comes to backing up their clubs. Despite being in a big, rich and developed country, the french league has always been mediocre when compared to the top leagues in Europe. They've only ever won 1 CL (OM in 1993, and under doping)... their overall record in Europe is, being generous, comparable to the ones from Yugoslavia, Scottland or the USSR/Russia+Ukraine. It's even weirder in basketball and handball, where they have some really good national teams but their league completely blows.

it is ^^
many say the league sticking to our 50+1 rule that limits the influence of investors is hurting us, others say its actually an advantage (me included) if you look at what these guys are doing in the prem for example
they have gone a bit soft though, hoffenheim, rb leipzig are company owned plastic clubs (to be fair they are not unreasonable)
