i started a football manager save unemployed, and finally got a job with dover athletic. in my first two seasons, he has scored 50+ goals. after a 2 goal performance in the most recent game, i decided to google him. apparently he's scored 40 goals this season irl! dover is probably my 2nd favorite team now

My star players usually suck or go nowhere in their irl football careers.

The best player I ever had was probably Malcom, who scored 70 goals in 35 league games in my Hajduk Split file in FM14 or 15... he also scored 15 in the CL and a bunch in the Cup and with Brazil's squad, for a total of over 100 goals in a single season... let's see what he can do irl (currently he's playing for Girondins Bordeaux and has just turned 20).

thats crazy. i think the most ive had a player score in a season was close to 50. playing lower league is quite different. the players are so bad, and there's no money at all.

Yeah, I only had those crazy amounts with Malcom. I also had a regen once who scored 50 in 30 iirc with Benfica, which is also pretty insane, but it wasn't in anyway comparable to Malcom averaging 2 per game lol. He even scored a triple hattrick once, and I don't think I've ever had anyone else score more than 6 in a single match.

That Hajduk Split team I built was just way too overpowered. I managed to get a bunch of great wonderkids for peanuts and hold on to them as they developed... in the end I had a team that was comparable to irl Dortmund, Monaco, Sevilla, etc playing in the croatian league against farmers. The only challenge was the CL, because in the league I averaged almost 4 goals per game

i never play a save long enough to do anything like that lol. i think my longest is 3 seasons with man u a few years back. thats why i started unemployed so id have to have a non league team, and then try to work my way up. i got promoted in the first season to the professional league, and have had a much more difficult time. i simmed about 4 months of the season and they somehow lost/tied every single game. then i came back, didnt change tactics or anything, and have won 3 our of 4.....strange how that works. but im actually going to try to stick with this save and make it to the premier league.

Oh I never, ever, EVER go on vacation and sim. I need to control absolutely everything absolutely all the time

I think the longest file I've ever done is around 11 seasons, but I'm not sure.

When I pick up a team like Hajduk Split, Panathinaikos, etc I usually just play until I win the CL... or maybe win the CWC so I have all the trophies. Sometimes I play a bit longer if I'm really enjoying the team and want to see how certain players develop or something.

I'm talking about remaining in the same team though... in files where I've hopped between clubs I can sometimes go on for over 20 seasons.

yeah i had started the save about 6 months ago, and just came back and wanted to get towards the end of this season. ive never really simmed before that. all my other saves i play as man u, and ive always won everything within like the first two years so i get bored with it after that lol. i dont like playing with random teams, but its ended up being fun learning about a whole bunch of players i never knew existed

Apparently I had looked the dude up before and he was doing just as good then. I guess he used to play for a league 1 or 2 team, but had his contract terminated because he was accused of racism or something. He wasn't convincted but no one would sign him so he went to play with a bunch of amateurs lol
