I remember the 2006 world cup like it was yesterday... I was so excited watching these young skilled players on the rise to the top....

The game against Portugal was heartbreaking....a joke that the ref lost complete control...

Skip forward to 2008 Euros and the Netherlands trash canned all 3 opponents Italy and France never had a chance...

Next match against Russia they just imploded...couldn't maintain focus and individual players trying to do too much by themselves

2010 , the year they should have won

3 more wins in the group stage downing Denmark japan and cameroon

moving to the knockout rounds they got friendly draws and secured wins over Slovakia then powerhouse Brazil fell and Uruguay

In the final against Spain...it was a closely fought match...and Arjen Robben was put in all alone on what should have been a sure goal...and the keeper got his leg on it somehow
In the end they fall 1-0

2012 euros

a complete disaster, on the wrong side of 3 1 goal games, getting dispatched in their 3rd of 4th group of death in a row... a black day that will refocus their efforts for 2014

2014 world cup

Another solid showing...not the best team and didn't deserve to win it all, the best team won....but I feel like they were the superior team to Argentina and deserved to play Germany in the finals

Revenge against Spain, humiliating them on the way to a an easy 3 wins in the group stage

Then completing wins against mexico and costa rica , finally succumbing to Argentina

I say goodbye to the golden generation and look forward to the next crop of great dutch players to pick up the banner going forward, it's time to close the door on this chapter...they have passed their prime and it has showed during this qualification period

Thanks for everything

Your version of events is noticeably skewed, Spain raped the Netherlands in the 2010 final. It was embarrassing to watch.

Mexico got robbed vs. A pathetic Netherlands in 2014.

We took revenge this year in your own home turf. Was good. B)
