Kevin Prince Boateng and Sydney Sam have both been released by schalke following their defeat to Köln.

Quite a dramatic scene, these two players could be great free transfers for pretty much any club

What about Sam? Also another player has been suspended afaik

I haven't followed schalke at all, but by the way they have played their games I wouldn't focus on the players imo and more on the coach..

I agree, it's a good way to show they're not willing to put up with their players idiocy

höger was suspended until saturday and might return while the others are out
sam didnt play at all for schalke and there is a reason for that
i dont rate him anymore

schalkes performances have been utterly ridiculous in general lately
di matteo is crap but certain guys have an overall attitude problem

i disagree with most of the "opinions" here. imo it's just a pathetic attempt from horst heldt to save his sorry little ass...

especially sidney sam. imo he's a very talented footballer, a bit lackluster sometimes but release him like that? he was signed from leverkusen at the beginning of the season, was injured for more than half of it (!), he played a total of about 520 bundesliga minutes for schalke (that's not even 6 full games!) and now he's released for "not showing enough positive attitude - on the bench"? seriously?!

and about boateng - wasn't he the one to save them 3 points just 2 weeks ago against stuttgart? don't get me wrong, he could and should have done more during his time at schalke and i somewhat understand they would let him go but like that?

in my opinion this whole deal is a purely impulsive action from heldt just to show everyone he's doing something...

well, the fact that heldt himself plays a big part in this misery is out of the question of course
