first of all, i take it that you differ between (artificial) turf and (natural) grass?
as a german i found the use of these words rather confusing tbh

metal cleats are for soft grass pitches only of course (forbidden here on turf btw ^^)

i always have 2 pairs of shoes, one with normal cleats and the other with metal
pretty useful for me, because where i come from the pitches are wet and slippery quite often
on dry grass the metal cleats are not that great, too much grip and it makes your feet hurt

so if you have wet pitches with deep ground rather often its worth the investment of course
if not, standard shoes suffice

Metal cleats are pretty much illegal in standard football matches.

;)
then its woth a try i think
i am playing almost exclusively on grass ^^
for turf they are nonsense of course (and not allowed here)

and metals are allowed, but a maximum of 16 millimetres long
the ones on the shoes you buy are 14mm here so no problem
