Looking at Forbes' list of the top 50 most valuable teams (Real Madrid #1, Barcelona #2 and Bayern #7, Arsenal #16 btw)

I noticed a very peculiar fact about Manchester City and their supporters

It says

"the average Manchester City supporter has been a fan for 21 years, the second longest period among Premier League teams".

looooooool what

Here I was thinking 90% of City fans were bandwagoners.

City's fan base is ridiculously strong. Just because a team begins to succeed doesn't mean the fans bandwagon.

I don't know, they don't state their source on this statistic, but Forbes are pretty reliable.

Yeah I know, but if City has say; 50 million fans and if 40 million of them started supporting after 2011 then there's almost no way the average supporter could be a fan for 21 years.

This means that City's always been one of the world's most supported teams as City is pretty high up on the list today. :o

Must be English-only fans, only reasonable explanation.

That statistic can be explained whilst still having loads of bandwagoners.

The reason is that inside Manchester, the vast majority are Man City fans. In surrounding areas of Manchester eg. Salford, it is a majority of Man United fans. City's fan base is extremely strong within Manchester, in contrast to cities like London (50,000 different clubs there) or Newcastle (much lower population although similarly strong Newcastle FC fanbase). If you get what I mean...

Yup bandwagon because the club I support > yours. It's okay though ^_^ back to Europa League next season you go.
