for me it might actually be dortmund. i don't think they are particularly good in general these days, so not only making it out but actually winning a group with psg, milan, and newcastle certainly surprised me.
united is of course somewhat shocking given the names and means at their disposal, but seeing them play occasionally it kind of makes sense to be honest.

€dit: forgot to include an option for "other". obviously open to more suggestions. benfica for example has been abysmal for the most part, and barely made it to europa league with a late rally. copenhagen has played well above expectations and left two bigger clubs behind...

It's a shame Dortmund didn't help out Milan tonight

Don't think dortmund was that surprising tbh. Beat Newcastle twice, both games could have gone the other way if Newcastle could finish chances. Plus, PSG have gone from what could have been the best front 3 in football in mbappe, neymar and Messi to mbappe and randoms. Plus the rest of the team bar probably the full backs are at best meh. Think they're in the right shit when mbappe leaves for free in the summer.

Biggest surprise probably sevilla imploding into nothingness. Always seem to be a tough team to play in Europe but not picking up a single win in a very mediocre group is disappointing. Would have at least expected them to make europa.
