its hardly a new concept for prem matchups but it bears discussion - especially if England expects its club teams to compete in Europe consistently.

Spain clubs had won every UCL/EL starting in 2014 until United won the EL last season - their flexible league schedule certainly didnt hurt in this era of dominance.

It really is. You didn't lose the game because you missed a day's rest, you lost because you played 2 attacking players (hazard, Morata) against a team that deals with teams sitting deep every week. As soon as Morata went off it was over. You played the majority of the game without a recognised striker on the pitch ffs. Instead of having a go against what (on paper) should still be a suspect back 4. A back 4 that contained stones and Delph. :wacko:

Last year the the only time city has a CL on Wednesday they had to play only one top team on Sunday which was Spurs. I only checked before Christmas, but I'm sure after you had it fine too.

So it didn't happen to every top team? Surely if we played a team like watford/palace we could have rotated the squad and won a lot easier.

Yeah I agree with you 100%. I think in the Chelsea thread I pretty much stated exactly what you said. There is no denying City fucked us. It's just weird this wasn't a super Sunday match or moved to Sunday.

german league is the same, last week bayern had the friday night game after playing on tuesday

that gave us an extra night for the psg game and the result is known
