Capello picked up Madrid after they failed to qualify for any european competition for the first time in the club's history in 1996.

He did a major cleanup and he began the season going on undefeated for 25 games, and won the league while setting a point record that stood for over 10 years. He left in june, but the team he built won the CL the following year.

So I think he'd be a great candidate, Utd could finish the season in a very similar situation to the one Madrid was in back then.

Van Gaal did do well with Bayern, where only a loss against Mourinho's Inter stopped them from reaching the treble they won with Jupp last season. It's just his last year at Bayern that was garbage. He also did a good job with Ajax and Barça.

His big failure was his first spell with the national team... and I have the feeling this seacond spell won't end well either, but not because of him but rather the current players.

idk, I like him... but I do prefer Guus and Fabio.
I think Capello might be too old as a long term solution, same with Hiddink, they're in their late 60s.
Either of Klopp or Simeone would fit the bill.

david moyes is the reason that everton has been in the top(5-10) of premier league for many years, when he took over they weren't the team they are now

this manchester united is not a title worthy squad, many players past their prime (evra, vidic, rooney, ferdinand, valencia, nani), and you can just tell that you have a crap squad because januzai has been one of your best this season

the competition in premier league this season has been higher then the last 3 seasons atleast also
He's won nothing, absolutely nothing in his career, how can he command respect of multiple Premier League and Champions League winning players?

Well neither Klopp nor Simeone are going to leave their clubs any time soon... so why not hire a top manager for 3-5 years, until they are available?

Just because SAF managed Man Utd for 25 years it doesn't mean that the club should only sign managers that can last that long. Most top clubs change their managers ever 3-5 years, and while I admire the idea of Man Utd wanting to be different about this, they shouldn't be a slave of their philosophy and only hire managers that can manage for many years until their retirement.

At least that's just my opinion on the matter. If they were to sack Moyes this summer, I believe they should hire someone like Hiddink, Capello or Van Gaal for the next few seasons (which I'm sure would find it motivating to have the chance to finish off their carreers reconstructing a club like Man Utd), and then sign someone younger for a long term project. But most importantly, what the team needs is a major cleanup imho.

It's the Manchester United way to employ managers long term for and it's the only reason why Moyes is not sacked yet.
The team is fine, it's won the league last season by 11 points, only Moyes' failures lead others to believe the squad needs an overhaul.

I disagree, it was RVPs insane form and the fact that the other teams either underperformed or were on a transition phase that allowed Man Utd to win the title imo.

It was absolutely 100% Van Persie. He singlehandedly threw his team on his back, much like Suarez is doing this year. Still bitter City didn't sign him/he chose united.

De Gea (finally) started to perform consistantly too tho, Rooney was great as always but other than that, they got champions with a really mediocre/aged team.

going to have to disagree with the suarez comment really the comparison isn't even there. without suarez liverpool were still in the top 4 earlier this year and danny sturridge has 15 goals so far this year as well.
rvp had no strike partner with those stats.. it was all rvp..

I'm not sure to be honoust, back when Suarez was banned whole Liverpool was on form, when he came back players started to drop a bit form wise (like Mignolet) and Suarez was there to save them then.
