Wouldn't say we are making the same mistakes, because this time we actually played really well.

On the whole Wenger debate I can't say my current opinion. I want to see how it goes after the winter tranfers window is closed.

United almost kept a cleansheet with a defense of a right winger, mediocre centreback coming off suspension, couple of teenage rookies in their first seasons and ashley young
Cmon

This! I remember when we had a makeshift defence and united hammered us 8-2
That's the levels, this is one of the worst arsenal sides I've seen since 1996

always the same when i watch the arsenal games

positioning in midfield rather bad
too many players on a small area of the pitch
not enough penetration upfront, too few shots
you are trying to carry the ball into the net

probably you say now that its your style and it is

but its not working good enough to be at the top

Did you see the full match? (genuine question)
Because when Wilshere was on, I felt the midfield played the ball around really well, but when he was out after his injury the situation you mentioned happend.

Hmm, I'd have to rewatch some situations but overall I felt we did well in the midfield. I think if Sanchez was on form today we would have won this

i've never held back my opinion of wenger, been criticising him for a couple of years now but today's tactical blunder award has to go to van gaal imo:
i couldn't believe how exposed united's wings were. three at the back, ok - but then you have to instruct your wingers to defend properly or show the defence how to shift to one side with a central midfielder covering either in central defence or on the opposite wing. cringeworthy really. they would have gotten exposed so hard by any real top imo...

Van Gaal is stubborn as fuck. His 3 CBs 2 WBs ain't gonna work with his current squad. U have to have at the very least 1 world class CB to pull this off. Prime Vidic or Rio, who could organize and command the defence would make it work, but now there's simply no presence at the back. Mind u tho, the situation with midfield is even worse for them imo. U can invest as much as u like into your attackers, but u gotta retain the ball and get it to them first to get the results. And there's not a single guy in the midfield who can do that now. I can't understand why is Mata out of favor. He's pretty much the only one in the current Utd team capable of spraying the balls all over the place. If Arsenal weren't so terribad at finishing, the game would have been over after the first half today.
