Gomez did fine in the game and has played well since Van Dijk's injury. The headed clearance leading to their goal could have been better but it was a low ball that made it difficult to get cleared far. I would question Wijnaldum and Henderson more on that goal because neither of them were on the outside of the box with Fornals.

Gomez's weakness is aerial ability, but thankfully City don't pose too much of an aerial threat. I am more worried about Sterling destroying Gomez again like in the 4-0.

I'd like to see Firmino benched for Jota for the City game, he just never looks like scoring these days.

5 wins out of 5 since losing vvd (we were robbed against everton as well), very impressive.

Phillips will hopefully do a job out there but I think against City and good opposition we NEED matip next to gomez or we will be extra vulnerable. this season may rest on how fit we can keep matip in vvd's absence.

I pray matip and thiago are fit enough to start against city on sunday now. 5 nights of rest

17 pts after 8 games is actually pretty good considering we've played Arsenal, Chelsea and City already. Also Everton & Villa away which were hard games.

Shame about TAA getting injured, hopefully Fab and Thiago will be back after the international break to compensate.

We've just got to get through the next 6 weeks, then I'm liking our fixture list from around Christmas onwards tbh.

Great position considering all the injuries so far. Curious to see where the likes of Spurs will be in 5-6 games otherwise it will be City once agian that is the only real challenger tbh.
