Liverpool really getting 80% of pay trough the government?

Yeah, unfortunately. Big mistake from FSG, this will hurt our reputation as a global brand

Still so much goodwill lost overnight.

Goodwill has been lost, but your other point is plain stupid. U-turning is obviously better than sticking to furloughing. Spurs aren't even topping up the 20% we were.

No, Liverpool did show their true colours right there - United for example have never even entertained the idea of furloughing non playing staff.

The only difference between you and Spurs is the latter stuck to their guns after fiery criticism while Liverpool faltered desperately trying to save their faces.

So it's better to stick to your guns and get the government to pay for your staff's wages instead of admitting a mistake and the club still paying them? Who is still taking taxpayer money?

Plain. Stupid.

It only makes Liverpool weaker as they crumbled to the pressure from the pundits and general public but it's too late, we all know what their true intentions are.

In fairness to Spurs, they also announced 20% wage cuts for the next two months to non furloughed non playing staff.

I have no problem knowing, that Liverpool's owner's true intentions is to be a profitable company and protecting their own economy. Even more so after proving that they are successful in doing so.
This possibility was made by the country to protect companies with huge downgrade in their income and honestly all football clubs are rightfully allowed to do so.

What the public thinks of the spoiled footballers huge wages and very little interest in downgrading however, is something I can definitely relate to.

Cheers mate.
Hope you're doing good.

I am so desperate at these quarantine times, that I started playing D2 again. Figured I'd take a look in the world football forum while we are still on top of the league and before we're stripped of the title.
