Am I the only one that has the feeling this will be won by the least dissapointing big team?
Germany has a great team, but they haven't really lookd that great since they won the WC... plus they'll have added pressure now that they are wolrd champions, and Löw isn't the greatest manager around...
Spain has some great players, but they also have a bunch of players that are past it and others that are heavily inconsistent and/or inexperienced. They don't have a clear first choice striker (and I doubt Del Bosque will make the right choice in any case).
France has a really good looking team and they are hosts... but they'll also have the extra pressure everye host nation has, and they might have issues inside the team (such as the Benzema-Valbuena case) that mght hurt their performances.
Italy is always Italy, but they have a pretty mediocre generation imo.
England, on the other hand, has a good looking geration... but they could have injury/form related problems, and I don't really see them beating the strongest opponents.
Belgium also looks good... but so far, it's mostly on paper, as they still have to proove themselves and it's uncertain how they'd perform in later stages of the tournament.
Portugal looks awful and will need to rely on an excellent Cristiano to have any chance.
And even if we look at lower tier teams that usually perform well (Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Croatia, Czech Republic...) they are all either weaker than usual or inconsistent as fuck. Poland could be a positive surprise, but I don't see them being good enough to contest with the better teams.
Overall, I think we'll see many teams dissapointing... which is fun for the drama, but it could lead to pretty poor football (especially in the final stages).
