there was an interesting article in a newspaper not long ago, unfortunately i can't find it anymore but what it said is that wilmots, despite his rather flemish name, strictly refuses to give interviews in dutch, he only speaks french to the press.
and in general there is a big controversy, there are more and more walloons (french speakers) who want independence on the one hand but on the other hand they heavily rely on the flemish economy which is much stronger than theirs...
