What about a shift tactically to a 3-5-2? Valencia won't track back much, so Smalling will have to shift entire defense right. As long as Evra can be energetic in recovering, maybe this could work?

This would literally get them relegated

Moyes has cash to spend - Report

Manchester United boss David Moyes has been given assurances that significant funds are available to him this month and in the summer.

The club is targeting a left-back and central midfielder and senior figures at the club have told Sky Sports News that Moyes will receive all the financial support he needs to make any moves.

But Manchester United officials, who have given Moyes their full support and have no plans to appoint a director of football to support transfer activity, will not rush into any panic buys and stress that the availability of top players remains the biggest obstacle.

"We would like to bring people in but are those players available?" Moyes asked after his club's FA Cup defeat to Swansea on Sunday.

"There is an urgency but there's no point in me hyping it up because the players we would like to bring in are probably not available in January."

United have yet to trigger one-year extension clauses in the contracts of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra, who are both out of contract in the summer, and talks have yet to take place with Nemanja Vidic and Fabio who are also free to talk to clubs this month.

Sources at the club say talks will take place, which will include representatives of Wayne Rooney, at the appropriate time and there is 'absolutely no panic' about the current situation.

Sky sources understand that Cardiff are one of at least six clubs to have made a loan enquiry for Wilfried Zaha this month.

Moyes is understood to want Zaha to play more games but no decision has been made on the forward's future as the club assesses Nani's hamstring injury.

The targets should've been already identified and the deals wrapped up <_<
Besides after spending £27.5m on Fellaini I wouldn't trust Moyes with another penny.

Manchester United will back David Moyes with a mammoth £200million to rebuild his beleaguered team.

The shock FA Cup third round home defeat by Swansea means the Capital One Cup is now United’s only realistic chance of a trophy this season.

Moyes’ side meet Sunderland in the semi-final first leg at the Stadium of Light tonight when they are once again expected to be without Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

The absence of United’s two star players only highlights the lack of world-class talent in the squad Moyes inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson. The Glazer family will bankroll the new signings needed to strengthen the team over the next 18 months.

United were prepared to outbid Real Madrid with a £90million offer for Gareth Bale in the summer and also tried to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back from the Bernabeu. There was surprise that Moyes only spent £27.5m on Marouane Fellaini.

His list of targets now includes two central midfielders, a striker, a left back and a centre back. The United boss is unwilling to compromise on quality again and is likely to wait until the summer to get players he wants.

The majority, like prime target Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, will cost more than £30m.

Moyes feels let down by the attitude of some players after seeing United slip 11 points behind leaders Arsenal in the title race and make an early exit from the FA Cup.

He made his feelings known to them after Sunday’s defeat by Swansea before admitting there is an ‘urgency’ to sign new players in January.

The defeat has put even more pressure on United to reach Wembley in the Capital One Cup.

Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard said: ‘Reaching the final would be a major thing, especially in the situation we are in now. We have to pick ourselves up and move forward. We need to get into that final.’
