He's right 100% about the "when I win I'm german.. " bit.
sure, but that's not the part people disagree with. that's the 'when i lose i'm a turk' part, which is bs for > 99% of football fans and 100% of our press and the dfb. tens of millions have been put into tolerance, pro immigration, and multiculturalism campaigns and policies. show me ONE article in a german newspaper, just ONE dfb policy or decision that so much as hints at it, let alone supports özil's claims... it's complete bs and again, a red herring. the dfb leadership is riddled with incompetence and overblown egos, but most certainly not with racists...
i get that he's gotten a lot of abuse on the internet, where bigots roam freely and share their ignorance with the world, but he used that (maybe not even on purpose but because he can't really distinguish it) to push the 'everyone is racist against me' narrative, which conveniently ignores his own shortcomings in this whole deal - and all the gullible fools, the easily offended sjw types, and the people who rather accuse others of racism than reflect on their own behaviour, just go with it - please don't be one of them just because you like the player. i do too, but his ridiculous accusations are inflicting major damage on a long and tedious, but also fragile process that is so important for our whole society.
those kickitout statements can't be taken seriously because they just blindly go with özil's racism narrative (without providing ANY proof ofc) and don't even mention the incident this whole affair started with: özil's public and unapologetic support for someone who is ACTUALLY a racist, someone who kills and imprisons people for being kurds or alevis, amongst other things...
