Aren't those players supposed to really good? Or just overhyped?
Define "really good". For me they are good enough to play as starters in a club that plays the EL consistently while having that tiny chance of making it to the CL every now and then. Most of them wouldn't make it into the starting XI of Madrid, Barça, Atletico or Sevilla.
Alcácer is good but too incosistent for a top team.
Gayá is very promising, but he still needs to learn and develop a bit. Good enough for Valencia of course, but he could end up playing in a better club in a few years.
Mustafi and André Gomes were excellent last season. This one not so much, but the whole team has been awful.
Parejo is good, but Valencia is as high as he'll ever go.
Piatti is great, but he's phisically fragile and that affects his consistency.
They are all good enough for Valencia. The problem is that the club has allowed Mendes to bring his garbage into the club (Rodrigo, Abdenour, Aderlan Santos, etc) for shitloads of money, instead of spending those millions in 2 or 3 quality players that could allow them to fight for a CL spot again. Even the decent players that Mendes brought (liek Negredo or Enzo Pérez), were signed with a price tag that they will never ever justify.
