He lacks the discipline to be a proper and mainly defensive-minded player... He'll never even make it to the Top 20 CBs in the world and he wasn't really good for Chelsea either. Overrated from the beginning and overhyped due to lucky circumstances.

rafa used him as a defensive mid and he was quality. just look at how many trophies the team won during his time there. he's a technically gifted footballer that's a bit suspect at the back but he is still good, just not in a CB pairing
