Quite the contrary actually. He rarely made mistakes, and his presence in the midfield allowed for a greater freedom for the attacking players, who didn't have to drop back because he and carrick cover so much ground.
I agree with the aforesaid post that you were watching a completely different game

the main role for his position is to keep the ball and to hold the midfield, no holes etc and he was awesome, when he got subbed things changed a lot and he looks really passionate

Fellaini was awesome last night, Bayer were terrified of him.
He frees up the attackers off their defensive work and gives them so much space.

Fellaini may look clumsy, but he knows what he's doing and he's a great player.
