I have been in their stadium many times and the only location that is always full is "grada jove", full of Spanish flags with animals on it (bulls, eagles and that kind of stuff).

I never met a fan of Espanyol that is not ultra nationalist and also follower of Real Madrid. And I'm sure you neither do.

I've met Espanyol fans that are not spanish nationalists. As for supporting Madrid... most of them didn't really care for Madrid, but they supported them only because Madrid's success pisses off Barça. As in "A chance to visit Bernabeu? Meh. Watch their games on tv? Meh... but hope they win so Barça fans get pissed... HELL YES!".

You mistake their complete loathing of Barcelona as love for Real Madrid. Their "support" is just a way to express their hate. The only club they really love is their own... Espanyol.

It's just sad small club mentaliity tbh. They're obsessed with their bigger local rivals (in this case, Barça), and they act hatefully as part of their inferiority complex.

Espanyol is one of Madrid's subsidiaries, even the shield is the same, a round with the crown of the kingdom, and most of its fans are non-integrated Spanish immigrants, that is, anti-Catalan. From there comes the appropriate name of the "espanyol" club that Castilians use to define the inhabitants of what they consider to be their territory.

Nice conspiracy theory claiming Espanyol is a subsidary club of Madrid because of their badge shape, when Espanyol adopted the shape before Madrid did...

Many spanish clubs have rounded badges with different degrees of variations: Racing, Depor, Mallorca, Alavés etc... it means nothing other than an aesthetic choice.

The crown is a common trait shared with literally dozens of clubs in the country... all the ones with "Real" in their name carry it... which are many, as it was an honor bestowed by king Alfonso XIII as a way to support the growth of sport in times when it was still a bit of fringe activity; he gave it to one club in pretty much every city.

Claiming something is anti-catalan just because it doesn't actively embrace separatist or nationalist ideals just shows how unreasonably radicalized some people have become on this issue. It's a "with us or against us" mentality that just fuels hate, intolerance and unrest. Hope you can one day understand that some people can be proud of both being catalan and by extension spanish, without one excluding the other one.

There are of course radicals on both sides of the issue, but accusing a club of being anti-catalan just because it chooses to keep politics out of their club agenda instead of actively supporting or sympathizing with a political movement, is sad.

Ball hits him on the shoulder, but he falls like a jackhammer hit him in the face.
Where are players like Puyol who took a shot in the face from Roberto Carlos, stood up and continued playing like nothing's happened

Other than that a great result 👍

I will not be the one to defend Jordi Rata, but from the other angle you can see how the impact is on the face.

Totally true, the men's club plays poorly and is fifth in Loliga, but the 7-0 in the women's classic is still there.
