Fellaini transfer officially confirmed, £27.5m.

worth it. he's just the player united need imo and considering what other clubs pay for completely unproven players from much weaker leagues...
not a steal by any stretch of the imagination but still... money well spent imo...

well i'm not hating on martinez or anything. i like him, i really do. as a football player he convinced me he can be worth his ridiculous pricetag and as a person he certainly already is a great buy. i've hardly ever seen anyone so eager to learn (on and off the field) and put himself on the line for his team and teammates. plus he seems like a very nice and likeable person, at least that's the impression i get...
but i still think it wasn't the "smartest" buy from bayern. i'm aware that's a bold statement after they just won the treble and he was massive for them in the 2nd half of the season but i'm convinced they could have done that with luiz gustavo as well. and for bilbao it was certainly the deal of the century.

and as you said. martinez was at least consistent and good for bilbao, you could clearly see he has the potential for greater things while with herrera... (im obviously referring to their great run into the EL final last year) - he just did not shine like others imo. now much can happen with such a young player in that time but looking at his stats, and watching the weekly highlights from la liga, i just can't say that he's the player that springs to mind thinking about the certain next big thing from spain or anything, but you're obviously better suited to judge that... a talent for sure but worth buying him for that money now? hardly...

Many english clubs have acted like La Liga is a gold mine this transfer window. Many crap or simply overrated players have departed to England because some english clubs have gone crazy after seeing how well many former La Liga players have done in the EPL. Not talking so much about the big clubs, but the smaller ones have looked at what happened with Michu (who was bought for 2M€ and had an insanse season with Swansea), and have bought players like Luna or Pozuelo, which would have probabaly been loaned or sold to a Segunda División club if an english club hadn't bought them.

they paid around 5 mill € more than necessary & could have had Fellaini in time for pre-season

the transfer period was rather a proof that Moyes and Woodward are completely inadequate in doing transfer business, and i am not even including the herrera drama

Don't think he's worth that much, Van Persie is the best striker in the world and he was £24m.
But then someone like Witsel cost Zenit £34m, same as Fernardinho.

Fellaini was always plan B, Fabregas was plan A

oh, just realized the price was in pounds and not in euros... yeah, it's a slight overpay, but considering the amounts other clubs have been spending this transfer window I think it's ok.
