Hey guys I have a quick question.
The pre-game odds for Atlético Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen was +163 for Atletico Madrid, +210 for Bayer Leverkusen, +205 for draw. So basically Atlético Madrid were slight but not huge favorites.
However, the odds to win the Champions League were 8/1 for Atlético Madrid and 125/1 for Bayer Leverkusen. So Atlético Madrid were enormously more likely to win the Champions League.
Why is this? Why would the odds for the match be nearly even yet one team is vastly more likely to win the tournament?
Same phenomenon with Arsenal vs Bayern Munich. Why are the odds co close when Bayern Munich are so much better?
homefield advantage is huge in this sport

the probability of an upset in one game is better than an inferior team winning the whole thing
