well, with the current result i would argue it is actually somewhat acceptable to sit back and let porto try to create something. before that, however, it was incredibly dangerous and i can't imagine that was the official match plan. from a fan's perspective unacceptable either way though...

We weren’t sitting back, limiting them to few chances and counterattacking well - we couldn’t string 3 passes together.

oh, i was by no means trying to justify the performance prior to scoring, i think you're spot on about it not being a conscious decision but rather a lack of motivation, i'm just saying that through luck (and porto's inability to score) it turned out not to backfire, and now, that porto has to score four, a lower effort approach actually becomes a valid option...
