Sadly this. I don't think Benteke is that good, or that he is worth anywhere near the sum we are paying, but there are no better options due to finishing 6th last season and only finishing top 4 once in the last 5 years.



That's exactly his problem. No consistency in his game whatsoever.

No point in comparing, Liverpool have learned from their mistakes and alot of their transfers recently have been good. Players like Balotelli were a gamble yes, but there are also the likes of Coutinho, Moreno etc.

Benteke is a good deal, even tho he's expensive but thats to be expected. Villa have no interest in selling him and he has proved himself in the premier league, he is young and he is Belgian (something that the past few seasons have been a sign of paying much more, EG Lukaku, Witsel, Hazard etc)

Hazard was a steal.

well i hope for liverpool that benteke will not be as big of a flop as carroll was - but in terms of overprice they ARE very well comparable:

they both have been decent although somewhat inconsistent strikers for lower level teams before their transfer to liverpool and they both cost more than € 40M.
and they both were bought with money liverpool made from selling a good player for way too much money to an oil club.

A good player, I can't agree with that. Torres and Suarez were good no doubt, but Sterling is nowhere near close to that level.
City overpayed for him and now all the eyes are on their transfers. Put Benteke in a solid team and he will play amazing, he singlyhanded saved Villa from the relegation this season..

And yes I'm biased because he's Belgian, simply for the fact I watch nearly every single game he plays. He WILL be a good addition, he's a better footballer than Caroll and he scored more goals than him (33 vs 49)

I rate Benteke highly, more than I rate Origi and Lukaku for example.

Hazard same price as Benteke, ridiculous

Benteke 500k more expensive

If the deal goes trough he becomes the most expensive Belgian player

ok now, suarez "good"? he was / is outstanding - why do you even mention him? ok, torres was arguably better than sterling in his last liverpool season, i would agree if that was your point... now if that makes sterling "not good" i don't know but that's not what this was ever about and you know it...

and your 49 vs 33 goals argument is also somewhat misleading: benteke scored 49 with 13 assists in all competitions in > 100 games and he's 24 now while carroll scored 33 with 21 assists in 90 games and he was only 22 when they signed him...

again, i'm not hating on benteke or liverpool here, it could work out for them but you know as well as me that this is a huge overprice and it could certainly backfire again...

btw, i'm really interested in your source about the valdes issue in the united thread if you don't mind...

Benteke was 21 when he got signed by Villa... He has a ratio of almost 1:2 while Caroll is 1:3.

Also not even sure why I'm still replying to your posts, you clearly try and bait everyone out causing much drama on here, something I'm trying to avoid
