are you seriously comparing di maria to özil? they are very different players which play in different positions...
but seriously, i only chose to bring him up because of his pricetag. isco and illaramendi cost 60 mio. - that's 10 mio. more than what özil was sold for... good deal? i don't think so...
so well that ancelotti changed from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3, with di maria and modric as cam...
you mean like the copa del rey semis last season where he assisted in both games or the cl semis where he assisted benzema in the 2nd leg? or do you mean the supercopa finals where he also made an assist?
or are you talking about the cl semis the year before where he scored one goal in the 1st leg and assisted one in the 2nd against bayern? or the supercopa final where he also scored one?
Di María and Modric aren't in Isco's position, and in Carlo's 4-3-3 Isco has been used mostly on the wing and as a false 9. Özil would have the same problem if he had stayed because, like Isco, he has trouble playing out of position.
During the season's first 2 or so months, Madrid played like crap but was carried by Cristiano and Isco. The 4-3-3 brought more balance to the team (especially after Khedira's injury which made the team require more support in the rear part of midfield), which is why the system was changed, even if it meant benching one of the most in form players the team had. The team's performance improved and plaers like Modric really stepped up, so I can't complain, but I personally think a 4-2-3-1 could potentially be better.
Supercopa and Copa del Rey semis are not what I meant... Copa del Rey and EL finals or CL/Euro/WC semis is what I had in mind. The game against Dortmund is the only CL semi game he played properly, in every other one he was invisible and ended up being substituted, regardless of him giving an assist or not that game.
Why are we even discussing this again? We've gone over this a few times already... the way we see Özil is too different to make anything out of this.

well, you started to compare özil towards di maria. the only player that özil should be compared too is isco, since he was basically his successor.
and facht is that he is warming the bench atm

I wasn't comparing Özil with Di María as players though, I was comparing how each of them reacted to the club's signings and it was obvious that Madrid had to sell one of them.
