Let me rephrase that:

Out of 10 times players like Müller, Robben, Gomez (at that time) or Ribery are given a chance as good as their chances in the final vs. Chelsea (including for example a penatly) , they will score 7-8 times. That's why they're considered some of the best in their job.

"Solid defending" - like you call it - would concentrate on not giving them those chances and definitely not on hoping for the 20-30% miss probablility to save your ass every single time.




Not unlucky. But again... your team allowed them tons and more of scoring chances from inside the box, many times even 1vs1 with Cech (and again even a penalty), where the probablility for players like Messi, Iniesta, etc. to score is much higher than the probablity to miss / for Cech to save.


That's why I said:

Chelsea need to learn how to properly defend and keep their opponents under pressure much further away from their box. If they don't, other decent teams will always have the odds in their favor.

Didn't see the game, knew hiddink as an excellent tactician, expected chelki to put up a fight.

Seems PSG walked over them.

So, in other words, over a total of 3 games (semi-finals + final), you would actually consider...

- ... 2 missed penalties by the opposing team,
- ... 4 times being saved only by the post/bar,
- ... numerous times being saved only by Cech in 1vs1 situations vs. strikers like Sanchez, Messi, Robben, Müller or Gomez
- ... several times when Cech was already beaten and the ball was only cleared a few inches before the line by defenders

nah, it was a good game.
At 1-1 it was really exciting, could go either way and they ended up picking up the goal to finish the match.

Ofc course my arguments can get annoying when you cannot come up with any of your own and simply base your opinion ("we did have a solid defense") on... well... on nothing basically.
