Pep era :
Quote ( Pep)
“There are players who think more about what the team needs and what is the best solution for the team. This kind of player, is an intelligent player who has a vision about what the team needs. That’s why they are players who can definitely control. Follow what the trainer wants. Or what the team needs.
“And then there are the ones who cause chaos. The ones who play on instinct and on talent […] we need these kind of players for the last 50 or 20 metres. They can create absolutely everything and the trainer can’t control that. You can not limit that.
“You need both. They are a part of the game. You need players who have to analyse what you have to do. And there are other ones who have to be a bit free to show their talent as much as possible. They can make the brilliant action to try and score a goal or [make] a big pass. When you have a team and you can mix both types of both ideas you have a big advantage.”
Robben
Quote
Over the last two seasons, his importance to the Bavarians has only increased. In 2012/13 he scored 0.31 goals, created 1.81 chances and produced 2 successful dribbles per game. A year later, those numbers increased slightly to 0.39 goals, 1.82 chances and 3 successful dribbles per game. This season however, he has become Bayern’s ultimate game-changer, scoring 0.81 goals, creating 2.38 chances and making 4.48 successful dribbles per game so far in 2014/15.
Lahm
Quote
During the last season in which he primarily played as a full-back, 2012/13, he made 64.03 passes per game; a total that increased to 78.79 in Guardiola’s first year. Lahm’s pass completion rate also grew from 89% up to 92%.
He has also helped Bayern to not only dominate the ball but also to better use it against their opponents. In Jupp Heynckes’ final season, he made, on average, 0.79 successful take-ons per game at right-back, with a 65.71% success rate. A year on, and now featuring regularly in his new midfield role, Lahm made 0.96 successful take-ons per game, succeeding with 77.14% of his attempts. Guardiola’s influence upon the smartest player he has ever coached has seen him become more prolific and more precise as a holder of possession and a confounder of opponents who try to beat his brains with brawn.
Both Lahm and robben have improved under him, dunno why so many people are anti-pep.
