no need. emery is not a pragmatic manager.

i have to say he reminds me of löw a lot, in that he obviously has some kind of 'vision' of how his team should play, but too proud and stubborn to correct obvious mistakes and misjudgements. also struggling to identify who his best available options are, and how to manage the egos of a team, unnecessarily burning bridges while ironically considering themselves good communicators.

It's not even a case of being too proud, it's a lack of football tactical knowledge. Playing Torreira at a 10, subbing on Kola while we have Pepe on the bench during a 1-1 must win game, subbing Özil at a time where he was the most creative player,...

Flying high right now, maybe not 9 goals again, but another great performance from front to back. Another European tour beckoning at this rate!

just when i thought we were getting back on track, after our best game of the season last week, we suffer our highest defeat in our professional football history, losing 0:8 (!!!) - against that disgusting plastic club from leipzig of all teams.
and not just that we were outclassed in basically every aspect of the game, we practically invited them to score at will, didn't even fight back physically - a truly devastating performance tactically and attitude wise. we desperately need a new manager imo, i heard mourinho is available...

hio im back again!

i'm wondering, should frankfurt officially protest against the result of yesterday's 2:1 loss against belgian club standard liège, and would there be any chance of the result being overturned?

for those who are unaware of what happened: in the 71st minute, with the game being drawn at 1:1, frankfurt's rode was fouled by the already booked liège player laifis, who was the last defender in that situation. after consultation with his linesman, the referee not only decided against a straight red card (which already was a blatantly wrong decision), but more importantly, he didn't send off laifis with a second yellow, but booked a completely different player (cimirot), who acted like HE was the one that committed the foul.
so instead of having one man more on the pitch for the last twenty minutes of the game, frankfurt got screwed by an incompetent ref and cheating liège players, and then conceded an unlucky last minute goal to lose the game.

does this count as a "decision regarding facts" as defined in the rules, and is therefore unappealable, or does the fact that the referee punished the wrong player entirely make this a case for a potential review?

Saw the game ofcourse and they did trick him, don't think anything can be done. Look at Chelsea Arsenal a few years back when Gibbs got sent of instead of Oxlade (in that case they didn't trick him ofc).

Don't see anything happening, perhaps Laifis getting a punishment but even that I doubt.

i think you might be right, so far i haven't read anything about frankfurt filing an official protest yet.

i actually remember the gibbs / ox confusion, made for some pretty funny memes, but it's different in many ways: the players did not intentionally cheat the ref, and the result would have been the same in terms of numerical disadvantage, in this case it's a difference because that incompetent idiot wasn't able to identify a clear red card offence.

speaking of arsenal, the worst thing about this is, frankfurt and liège are now even on points, and frankfurt has to play arsenal first, meaning arsenal could already be qualified when they play against liège in the last group match. imagine getting eliminated like that... i mean, i'm aware you're belgian, but you're also a football fan...

I agree on pretty much everything you said, Frankfurt had some terrible luck yesterday but the ref was poor in all regards imo. The freekick goal from Frankfurt for example, the ref put the wall way too close to the goal (still an impressive goal however).

I honestly expect Frankfurt to get something at home vs us in this current state, rather than Standard getting something at home vs us.

OHL are champions of the first half of the season! This means we have secured a place in the promotion play offs! If we win the second half of the season we automaticly get promoted.

Good times!
