+ again, most watched UCL final in history

But I guess PL fans must be kind of immune to actual facts and arguments... otherwise, they'd not be PL fans :D

04/05 UCL
-Chelsea made it to the quarterfinals after eliminating Bayern in the other side Liverpool knocked out Leverkusen, then Liverpool played Chelsea at the semi's and we all know what happened at the final in Istanbul - Liverpool won the cup.
- All 4 english clubs made it to the 1/8 finals, Chelsea and Arsenal won their groups, all 3 german clubs went to the 1/8 finals but only Leverkusen managed to win their group

05/06 UCL
-Arsenal went to the finals, all the rest of the english & german clubs got knocked out at the 1/8 finals
-3 out of 4 english clubs went on the 1/8 finals while only 2 out of 3 german clubs did the same

06/07 UCL
-Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester all on the semifinals with Liverpool going to the final, Bayern made it to the quarterfinals.
- All 4 english teams winning their groups, from all 3 german teams Bayern wins their group and the other 2 fail to qualify.

07/08 UCL

-Yet again 3 semifinalists from England with guess what? Yes an english final and United wins the cup.
-All 4 English teams qualifying from their groups while at the same time yet again just 1 out of 3 german clubs barely makes the 1/8 finals

08/09 UCL
-Guess what? Yet again 3 semifinalists from England and United having another final. We're starting to have a pattern in here i believe.Bayern made it to the quarterfinals.
- All 4 English teams qualifying from their groups while at the same time yet again just 1 out of 2 german clubs makes it to the 1/8 finals.

09/10 UCL
-The germans finally have decide to come out of the trenches and Bayern makes it to the final after barely qualifying from the group.United and Arsenal made it to the 1/4 finals.
- 3 out of 4 english clubs qualified as group winners, 2 out of 3 german clubs barely qualified for the 1/8 finals

10/11 UCL

-United going to the final yet again, Tottenham and Chelsea make it to the quarters. Schalke made a semifinal just to lose to United.
-All 4 english clubs yet again in the 1/8 finals with 3 of them as group winners. 2 out of 3 german teams qualify as group winners.

11/12 UCL
-Chelsea winning the cup against Bayern and the match is played in Germany...in Bayern's stadium.
-2 out of 4 english clubs qualify as group winners, in the same time 2 of 3 german clubs qualify and Bayern won their group

This is some facts for you, pal. That's why i said its so convenient for you to pick just the 3 seasons back sample. At the end its just worth mentioning that english teams has 12 cups and the german teams just 7 and i believe this argument will stop here.

Back then England was far ahead of Germany in the coefficients table, I don't think anyone is claiming that 10 years ago Bundesliga teams performed better than the ones from EPL.

True that, my point is that there is cyclicity in football but still when it was the english decade in the Champ League as you can see a lot of teams won the trophy and even a lot more made it to the semi finals/finals than with his example and the german football right now. Back then there was 4 strong english sides and now its only Bayern for the germans and even they have just won it once since the so called german domination.

Congratulations!

You have successfully shown that Premier League and its teams were superior to Bundesliga and its teams until 5 YEARS AGO and that English clubs have - historically - won more championships than German clubs.

...

Could you now please do me a favor and stop reminiscing about the "good old days" so we can continue talking about the current state of the leagues and their teams, where PL teams have been underperforming compared to German ones for 4 consecutive years now and none of them are even relevant when it comes to winning UCL?

So 5 years ago is in the past but last 3 years are the future? Alright. You make no sense highlighting a period which is comfortable to defend your thesis. And it's not even like Bayern are even already in the 1/4 finals and in the same time England already have one team there with another having 50/50 chances.

Why would you now start talking about the future???
We were talking about the current state of the leagues (as chelsea11 brought up his idea of Germany only having Bayern when I told him our Top-2 generally perform better than any of the PL teams) and I have clearly shown that PL was once ahead of Bundesliga, but things have turned around and it hasn't been the same for the last 5 years.

And YES, it's those most recent 5 years that I consider more important regarding Bundesliga's most recent development and current state than the years before... how do I even need to further explain a simple thing like that ???

It's not like I'm just highlighting a random period of time when German teams were better, like the 70s when Bayern dominated European competition... I just went back in time from the present season... just so happens that the last 5 years BL teams were performing better than PL teams. How hard is that to grasp?
