Normally, I'd feel sorry for a club of this size facing these problems, then I remember the abuse these cov inbreds threw our way when we were having financial problems. Hope you fold and are never seen again scumbags. :D

ez win for us - and that says a lot. not only because we were in terrible form (admittedly, so was schalke), but also because i'm not at all happy with our coach (who unfortunately extended his contract) and our performances this season...

heidel is a goner too. he was so great for mainz and his departure really hurt us, but he was utter shit at schalke. to be fair though, being an official in ANY capacity at schalke has to be the most ungrateful job in german football. the club's / fans' expectations are always incredibly high, while their teams are usually incredibly mediocre - and there is just no continuity or patience in the club for a management to establish and execute a long term plan.

cant say i watched mainz very often, but from the outside it appears that nothing changed compared to other seasons
yeah, there are some really bad games, but you always manage to pick up crucial points in the end

and yes, schalke really is a mess

its impossible to make long term plans there, win two games and you are the next cl favorite, lose two in a row and you are the worst manager/coach ever

not to mention that they lost their homegrown talents for peanuts and spent heavily for overpriced, mediocre players

bad combination

6th place still looks realistic for me

i love how even the league is btw ^^

6th place is possible, but there are better teams on paper.

Out of the top 5 teams, Deportivo, Granada and Málaga have easily better squads and I'd be very surprised if they had a meltdown. Osasuna and Albacete are about as good as us on paper, but they have a solid 10 and 9 point advantage over us... they've been over performing and I'm sure they will drop points, but I doubt that they'll drop enough for us to catch them.

So it will all come down to a battle against Oviedo (better team on paper, plus they made some nice signings in January), Alcorcón (about our level, but I think we're better).... and most likely Las Palmas and Sporting, which have teams built to fight for promotion (especially Las Palmas), and I doubt that both of them will fail to step up their game after their disappointing first half of the season.

I think we have a chance if we keep being solid at home, but we also need to improve away (we've only won twice so far, and one of them was against Reus, a team that had their players striking during training sessions due to the club not paying them... now they've folded and La Liga has banned them from participating in the top 2 levels for the next 5 years). A team that fights for promotion can't be that mediocre away.

But honestly, I'm not bothered or disappointed if we don't make it to top 6. It was never the goal of the season. The club said the only objective was to establish itself back in Segunda and begin to build a project to promote "soon" (although tbf, the true unofficial goal was a mid table finish, as realistically the team is too good to just ask for avoiding the drop).

That being said, I have good vibes with how the team plays most of the time. The dressing room is united and the manager respected. The new signings have been doing well so far too. So I wouldn't be surprised if we at least put up a fight for top 6 until the very end.

yeah, two promotions in a row would be a nice fairytale, but also a bit too much :p

Mallorca's first ever promotion to top flight went like that. In 1959 we promoted to Segunda, and in 1960 to Primera :D

But of course, nobody expects the team to ever pull it off again

2:1 win vs fenders boys

no good game and a draw would have been a fair result but i'll take it after losing some points in the last weeks
