All depends on how Wenger pushes the player to join, he did that with Özil and he signed, often he -or the board- don't persist tho.

e: as for affording, they could. But I think we will only make one 50M signing for a while

sorry, but I do not think that arsenal has been özil's first choice
assuming he pointed out that he is eager on leaving he'd be playing for some other club

He had no intentions on leaving tho, until Wenger talked to him.

Özil said in a interview that while talking to Arsene, he realized he missed a lack of respect, joy in the game etc
PSG offered more for him, but he said no to them which is always nice to see. people still see Arsenal as a club with a world class manager, great stadium etc.
