definitely not a good game from özil. he has to be judged by his standard, his pricetag and his reputation and certainly failed to create a clear chance so yes - a bad game from him. still he was arsenal's best offensive player.
but let's face it, the point is that mou did an excellent job achieving his primary goal which was obviously not to lose the game and even more than that, chelsea looked very dangerous with their (counter-) attacks...
but where that happened, and what wenger failed to recognize - the crucial position yesterday - was theo walcott imo. sure, he's a quality player and his insane pace always poses a threat to any defense in the world but mou knew that and you could clearly see that azpilicueta's only job (and he did it very well) was to take walcott out of the game. and walcott just isn't the kind of player who changes positions with his fellow offensive players which makes the job for the defenders so much harder. and also not the player to put in much defensive work which clearly holds sagna back. imo arsenal are much more unpredictable and harder to defend with cazorla constantly playing one-twos and changing positions with özil and rosicky or wilshere. walcott just hugging the line and relying on his pace was a little too one-dimensional yesterday and i'm really surprised wenger didn't see this and make the sub...
I agree with what you said, but Walcott just had a bad game. He learned to come in trough the center more instead of hugging the line and running, we saw that last year where he scored more.
We also saw this when he came in vs City, but he is learning how to field more positions in one match, this is a big reason why he wants to play in the centre.
As for Özil, it was just great defending from Chelsea, they held him back alot and Özil even got mad during the game vs Ivanovic, something I have never seen him do.
