Ffs, Liverpool's transfer policy astounds me in recent years. Overpay like crazy for dubious talent, then sell the same players after a season or two just for a fraction of the amount they paid. :D

Some signings work, some don't.

When a new manager takes the helm, they also instill their football philosophies, and unfortunately, some of the players (Like Andy Carroll) just don't fit that style. Why bother keeping them on the wage bill when they can be sold/loaned out and bring in what's needed? We've had 4 managers over the last few seasons. Rafa, Roy, Kenny and now Brendan. 4 different managers, 4 different styles.

Well, i don't agree. Ofc each manager has it's own philosophy, but this is not international football, where coaches adapt their tactics to the players they can call. In club football a coach normaly has his vision of style and he tries to get the players for it. Where was Carroll fitting into last year's Liverpool's game? There's simply no way of justifying Andy's transfer to Liverpool for that money. He's proven nothing yet. He was a panic buy. Or Downing's for that matter. Or we can remember the Robbie Keane saga which was beyond ridiculous.
I agree that some transfers work , and some don't, but after Benitez for some reason Liverpool's purchases tend to fail very often.

I'll agree with that.

Andy was a panic buy, that's for sure. He was just starting to somewhat justify the price at the end of last season, but with this new system, he doesn't fit in.

I think Dalglish was looking to have Downing feeding balls in to Carroll upfront. Unfortunately, King Kenny's tenure ended abruptly, and so did the need for a target man that players feed the ball to. Brendan, from what I've seen so far, prefers a 4-3-3 system with the front 3 interchanging.

Carrol gone out on loan. If Suarez picks up an injury your season is as useful as last B)
