one more word concerning the VAR: i have always been, and still am, in favour of it - but we need to get our shit together, it worked so much better at the world cup. the joke penalty for bayern, the chaos in wolfsburg, this handball decision (even though just yesterday they clarified that a defender's arms outstreched to block or above their head are clear penalties, even from short distance - like we saw in gladbach), and i think i forgot one... that's just too much controversy considering the first matchday isn't even complete yet...

Mallorca will be playing away aganst Rayo de Majadahonda today.

This club has no real fanbase or history. Majadahonda is a small city very close to Madrid, and has no proper stadium to host Segunda games, so the game will be played in Atlético's stadium. The club was founded in the 70s, and has spent the vast majority of its history in the catacombs of Spanish football, but in recent years, thanks to a good management and the income from new sponsors and owners that were attracted by a fast growing town like Majadahonda (from 5k people in the 70s, to over 70k in 2018), the club has managed to climb all the way to Segunda.

They are expected to struggle massively in the battle to avoid relegation though. Their promotion was already a huge surprise, as they were aiming for a mid table finish in the third level, so they are at a massive disadvantage this year. They are probably the weakest team on paper... add to that their lack of experience at this level, their lack of a fanbase and own stadium, etc... it should be a rough ride for them. But Mallorca can't be overconfident... I sure as hell am not, as I've seen Mallorca lose these kind of games very often. Hope we can do the job and secure the 3 points!

kovac managed to create a midfield bundesliga team out of nothing.after winning the dfb pokal and qualifying for the europe league people thought that eintracht would take some money and start to invest.we're still focusing on loaning players who leave after 1-2 years again.now when theres some money to waste and the chance to take the next step we're actually going backwards.im judging by the friendly games and the dfb pokal i watched which gave me eye cancer.i havent watched then game vs freiburg but i heard that it wasnt as clear as the result shows.
my expectations were,as i already said,to build a basement for the next years...but we obviously missed that.
